This work is largely concerned with time-discretization of a class of nonsmooth dynamical systems, in finite dimensions, and to their well-posedness. These systems are ODEs coupled to complementarity constraints, and to equality constraints. They can be seen as linear complementarity systems with equalities, or as DAEs with complementarity constraints. In this talk it will be shown how passivity (in Willems' sense) can be used to analyse the discretization and the convergence. Circuits with ideal diodes illustrate the theory.
