Consumer-grade MEMS devices, typically used only for screen rotation or simple step counting algorithms, are in fact a rich source of information when combined with advanced sensor fusion and machine learning algorithms. 3D tracking and motion capture solutions developed by Xsens Technologies in the last decade will be used to illustrate that the low-power, inexpensive, miniature accelerometer and gyroscope sensors available today in the market can enable highly accurate motion tracking applications.
