Per Rutquist obtained his Master's degree from Chalmers University of Technology in 2000. He was an industrial PhD student at Volvo, where he worked on optimal control of hybrid electric systems, before going to Tomlab Optimization where he is the lead developer for the PROPT trajectory optimization package. After concluding his PhD degree at Chalmers in 2017, he joined the team at the Systems Control and Optimization Laboratory as a part-time postdoc, while remaining part-time at Tomlab.
